It’s a city that’s easy to explore yet full of little surprises around every corner. At the same time, Lisbon is built on several hills, and its neighborhoods all feel quite different.
Some areas are perfect if you want to be close to the main sights, while others offer a quieter and more local atmosphere. While exploring different neighborhoods should definitely be on your agenda, choosing the right one to stay in can shape your experience in an even better way.
In this guide, I’ll show you the best areas to stay in Lisbon and share some great hotels and apartments in each neighborhood to help you find the perfect base for your trip.

Best for first‑time visitors
