The Best 2-Piece Luggage Set For Every Trip
As a travel blogger who’s often on the move, having good luggage isn’t just a nice-to-have – it’s essential.
After years of using the same old suitcases, I decided it was finally time for an upgrade. Since I needed both a carry-on and a checked bag, I figured why not get a matching 2-piece set that’s functional, minimal, and built to last?
That’s how I discovered the Level8 Luminous Textured 2-Piece Set.
After giving it a good test on a couple of trips, I can honestly say it’s one of the better luggage combos I’ve used. It has a nice balance between style and practicality, with thoughtful details that make traveling just a little easier.
In this post, I’m sharing why I truly believe this is one of the best 2-piece luggage sets out there.

First Impressions
I went for the size combination 20″ and 28″ (51 cm & 71 cm), which is only available in black. Honestly, I wouldn’t have picked another color anyway because I’m not really into bright colors. But if you go for the 20″ and 24″ (51 cm & 61 cm) set, you can choose between black, grey, or navy.
When I opened the boxes, I immediately noticed how lightweight the suitcases are. The 20″ carry-on was easy to lift with one hand, and the 28″ checked bag didn’t feel heavy or bulky.
The matte black finish looks nice and a bit tough, but not too plain. Both suitcases have a simple logo and no extra zippers or pockets outside, which I like because it keeps things looking neat.
The diamond-textured hard shell isn’t just for style – it helps hide scratches and makes the suitcase feel stronger. The design is simple and modern, and it feels like it will stay stylish for a long time.

Travel-Ready Features
Both suitcases come with the following key features:
Waterproof Material
Both suitcases feature a premium waterproof shell made from German-made Makrolon® — a tough yet lightweight polycarbonate. It’s highly durable, scratch-resistant, and protects your belongings from rain and rough handling.
The only thing I noticed is that fingerprints show up easily after you touch it, but that’s not a big deal because you can wipe them off quickly.
Smooth Wheels & Sturdy Handle
The 360° wheels are super quiet and glide smoothly over various surfaces, making it easy to pull the luggage without any effort. Even in narrow spaces or crowded areas, moving it was simple and stress-free.
The telescoping handle adjusts smoothly to different heights and feels sturdy – a clear upgrade from my old suitcases, where handles often felt fragile or unstable.

Integrated TSA-Approved Locks
Both suitcases include built-in TSA-approved combination locks that are easy to set and use.
Thoughtful Interior Design
Inside, each suitcase offers great organization with a mesh divider panel, two zippered pockets perfect for socks, chargers, or other small essentials, and adjustable compression straps to keep your clothes secure and tidy.
The design is straightforward but highly functional – on my trips, it made packing and unpacking much smoother, especially when separating clean and worn clothes.

A Size For Every Trip
The 20-inch fits most airline cabin rules and worked perfectly for a 3-day trip to Barcelona. It held my clothes, toiletries, a book, and my camera with room to spare.
Weighing just 7.7 lbs (about 3.4 kg), it’s lightweight enough to pack plenty without risking going over cabin baggage limits. And as someone small and not particularly strong, I can still lift it into the overhead compartment with ease – something I usually struggle with.
Even when flying budget airlines like Ryanair, I never had any issues using this suitcase, despite their rule that cabin bags should be about 8 inches wide (this one is 9.2).
Honestly, my old carry-on was even wider – but let’s keep that between us. 😉
The 28-inch checked bag weighs 11.4 lbs (around 5.2 kg) and is ideal for longer trips. It offers plenty of space for clothes, toiletries, books, my camera and drone, plus two pairs of shoes — all without feeling bulky or oversized.

What I really like is how these two sizes work together. For shorter trips, I just take the carry-on. For longer ones, I check the bigger suitcase and bring the smaller one on board.
Additionally, they nest perfectly when stored at home, making things extremely convenient.
Who This Set is For
This set is perfect for travelers who take a few trips a year and want something durable without breaking the bank.
If you’re a digital nomad or fly constantly, you might prefer luggage with more advanced features. But for me — a casual traveler who values functionality, quality, and a sleek, simple design — this set fits the bill perfectly.
It’s also a great choice if you:
- Travel both short and long distances
- Prefer a clean, minimal look
- Want reliable luggage that won’t fall apart mid-trip
- Appreciate smooth-rolling wheels and easy handling
Price & Value
Considering what you get, the price feels fair. The 20″ and 28″ set currently costs $389.99.
It’s clearly not the cheapest option out there, but it’s also far from the most expensive. It sits comfortably in the mid-range category, offering good quality at a reasonable price.
Compared to other luggage sets I’ve tried in this price range, this one stands out for its balance of durability, performance, and value.
You’re not paying for anything unnecessary – just getting a solid suitcase that does its job.

Final Words
Overall, the Level8 Luminous Textured 2-Piece Set is a solid option for anyone who wants simple, functional luggage that looks good without trying too hard.
I wouldn’t call it luxury, but it’s well-made and performs well. For the price, it feels like good value, and I will definitely use it for most of my future trips.
If you’re after luggage that’s easy to handle, sleek in design, and offers just enough features without being overcomplicated, this is a set worth considering.
It’s not going to change your life, but it might make your travel days just a little bit easier. And honestly, that’s exactly what I want from my luggage.
