Inni Boutique Apartments – Your Cozy Home in Hveragerdi

This blog post is written in cooperation with Inni Boutique Apartments and based on my personal experience.

Known for its natural hot springs and optimal location at the Golden Circle, Hveragerdi is a beloved base for travelers exploring South Iceland.

For our 4-day adventure trip to South Iceland, with the main mission to see the Northern Lights (which failed miserably), my partner and I opted for Hveragerdi as a base.

Located between Reykjavik and Vik, it was in close proximity to all the attractions we had planned to visit.

Despite Hveragerdi being a small town, there are still several accommodation options to choose from. However, none caught our eye as quickly as Inni Boutique Apartments.

With gorgeously designed, cozy-looking apartments, along with hot tubs and a steam bath, all in a perfect location – we knew this was it!

And our intuition did not disappoint us, our stay was simply fantastic! But I don’t want to spoil too much upfront.

Keep reading to find out what our stay was like at Inni Boutique Apartments and why I think it’s the best place to stay in Hveragerdi!

Our Memorable Stay at Inni Boutique Apartments

It was a 1.5-hour car ride from Keflavik Airport to our accommodation in Hveragerdi. For me, the entire journey didn’t feel like even 30 minutes because I was busy admiring the stunning landscape passing by.

Once in Hveragerdi, we quickly found our accommodation on a side street. Still close to the main attractions, yet in a quiet area.

After we parked our rental car in front of the main building – there were lots of parking spots available – we set off to find our designated apartment.

I already received the number and the code for the key box before our arrival so it was a pretty fast and smooth “check-in”.

Tastefully Studios Furnished With Attention to Detail

At Inni Boutique Apartments, you can choose between nine apartments in three categories: Two-bedroom apartments, two superior studios, and five standard studios.

We stayed in one of the standard studios situated in an annex behind the main building.

As soon as we entered our cozy haven, we felt immediately at home. Judging by the pictures on the website, we knew roughly what to expect.

However, it was even better in real life!

The entire apartment was tastefully furnished in a super cozy and practical manner with walls painted in a subtle berry shade, adding warmth and character to the space.

As we stepped through the entrance door, we found ourselves in a corridor with clothing hooks on the left. Directly ahead was another door, leading to a compact yet well-appointed bathroom stocked with all the essentials we needed.

To the left, the corridor opened up to my favorite part of the studio: The living area. A combination of kitchen and living room in one, the room was cleverly divided into two distinct yet interconnected parts.

The lovely living room featured a flat TV, two stylish chairs, a pouf, and a small coffee table adorned with a selection of interior design magazines.

A wall projection resembling a fireplace, adorned with stacked wooden sheaths, added an extra layer of coziness to the entire ambiance.

The open kitchen was fully equipped with a stovetop, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, toaster, and other essential amenities such as pots, pans, noodle strainers, plates, and everything else you need for cooking.

Plus, there was a small dining table where we enjoyed our cereals with milk in the morning and self-cooked noodles with pesto in the evening.

Finally, at the back of the studio, was the bedroom.

Furnished with a spacious king-size bed, a chair, a floor lamp, a standing mirror, and a compact garderobe complete with hooks and a shelf, it provided everything one might need for a peaceful retreat.

In every room we stepped into, the attention and affection invested in every detail were not to oversee.

Whether it was the neatly arranged cushions, the perfectly placed kitchen utensils, or the candlelight holder on the “fireplace”, the care and love were evident throughout.

It almost resembled a scene from one of the interior design magazines resting on the coffee table in the living room. Which, btw, made absolutely sense once I found out that one of the owners is a well-known interior designer!

A Relaxing Outdoor Spa Area

Being out and about all day from dawn to dusk to see as much of the island as possible can be quite exhausting, particularly during winter when driving in Iceland with a rental car can be rather tiring.

Good for us – and you – that Inni Boutique Apartments has the perfect solution to truly unwind and reflect on the day.

With your booking, you not only have your very own apartment space but you can also make use of the two hot tubs and the steam bath.

One hot tub has the form of a classic jacuzzi (just without the bubbles) while the other is a barrel hot tub. Both offer water temperatures between 38 to 42°C, perfect for relaxing tired limbs.

All three facilities are located in a small, separate area beside the apartments and studios. There are also hooks to hang your bathrobes and towels, and a shower.

Convenient Location to Hveragerdi’s Main Attractions

Another plus point of staying at Inni Boutique Apartments is its convenient location to many of Hveragerdi’s top places.

Whether you want to explore the nearby thermal park, embark on a hike to the Reykjadalur hot springs, dine at local restaurants, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee, all these places are within walking distance.

The neighborhood is also perfect for a lovely walk like we did one evening, eagerly waiting for the Northern Lights to appear – unsuccessfully.

Final Words

Overall, our stay at Inni Boutique Apartments was nothing short of perfect.

From the moment we arrived until the time we had to check out, everything was truly wonderful.

While it may not offer the amenities of a full-service, all-inclusive hotel – no breakfast buffet, no formal dinners, and no extensive spa – the place has its very own charm that sets it apart.

And truth be told, I would always prefer it over the former. There’s something special about the intimate atmosphere and the personalized touches.

Inni Boutique Apartments is more than just a place to stay, it’s a place that truly feels like your very own Icelandic home. And that’s an experience you simply can’t get anywhere else.
